Bulldog Brewing Company

Northwest Indiana has another microbrewery on its hands.  Enter, Bulldog Brewing Company.  The soon to be open brewpub in Whiting, Indiana is offering a variety of brews named after regional history.  It is opening Saturday, October 8, and you better believe that I will be there to sample the brews first hand.  Support your local beer makers and keep the culture growing in Northwest Indiana.

They haven't made their own beer yet. How can you be a brewery without your own beer? They say it's coming in a week or two. I call BS.

The word from inside is that the State of Indiana has not yet released their brewer's permit Understandably though, when you have invested capital it is necessary to open your doors as soon as possible. Since they did not have their own beer on tap yet I did not attend. I write about beer, not food. I decided to stay close to home and drink beer instead of making the drive. I say have patience. It will come in due time.

So let me get this straight, they have been working on this for over a year and just now realized they needed a permit to make beer. What a mess. They should have spent less time on their martini menu and more time on the beer.

Went there...totally disappointed that they wanted $5.00 to 14 oz glass of guest beer which for the selection they had was way over priced. Their bottled beer is over priced considering you can go across the street and get it for much less. Was not impressed with the owners not coming up and talking to see if guests had comments to help them. They need to go to 3 floyds, revolution brewery and even beer geeks to better understand what it takes to be successful....

I appreciate the feedback. Only time will tell if the business will be successful. The value of the beer is a little disconcerting, but if they are selling their own beers for $5.00 a pint (or 14 oz. as you've claimed here) then that puts them on par with other breweries in the area.

Since when has it been a requirement that the owners come talk to you personally? I have never seen the owners of Crown or 3Floyds there let alone talking to customers to ask them what is wrong. I know you all remember the horrible start Crown had with the green beer. Yuck. I could not even finish mine. The guys at Bulldog have a manager that runs the restaurant so if you have a complaint ask for her. Otherwise it just sounds like you are hoping they fail because they are doing what you can't.

almost the middle of november and no beer. do they even know that brewerys are supposed to have their own beer? went there once not impressed at all. got to hear one of the owners bragging about the beer he desined. it better be a homerun because as it stands i will never be back if the beer is bad stop worrying about image and make the beer!!!!!!!!111!

Just witnessed their brewer quitting! He really got into it with some guy named Kyle or Karl or something. Unbelievable!

Green beer on tap now. I tried but I could not finish it. Dude if you are going to open a "brewery" and operate for 6 weeks without your own beer, you need to hit a home run not serve green beer. Rookie.

Horrible beer. Mediocre food. Horrible service. Was excited about this place opening now I am utterly disappointed. Had high hopes since this is practically in my back yard. Well at least 3F isn't a long drive for me. Scratching this place from my list.

The grand opening was November 26th and they put three beers on tap. Their facebook site shows the first brew day was November 5th. How is this green beer for an IPA, Lager, or Wheat? I have tried their IPA and it is a very good beer. The lager is good as well but I prefer IPAs. The food is good as well with some great options not available in other local places. The service does need some help. It is slow. I see the owners in the place all the time. Maybe they are not talking to you because you are hiding in the shadows. I have been in there twice this week and both times the place was packed. Wilk - maybe you should contact these guys and get the scoop and try their beers.
